Personal Training Secrets Unleashed!

Personal Training Secrets Unleashed- Kimberly Wise of KW Personal Training gives you The only workout you’ll ever need! Drop down, do this anywhere- in your home, office, airport, beach!  Fitness is all about being creative and having fun, using the best resource to get you in the best shape of your life- YOUR OWN BODY WEIGHT!

Remember, always warm up /stretch before beginning any type of physical activity, and cool down/stretch after physical activity. Always consult your physician before starting a new workout program.

30-60 Seconds: Partner abdominal work. Face your partner, Interlock ankles arms over your head, squeeze your ears with your upper arms to support your head! Use each others momentum and push off each others hands between each sit-up. This creates resistance, keeps the heart rate up and effectively works the abdominals and hip flexors. It is important to START with Ab’s to warm up your core (Ab’s lower back) to prepare your body for the next few exercise. Your abdominals , whether you notice it or not, are always being used whether directly or in support of another exercising muscle.

30-60 Seconds: Partner Body Squat/ Partner crossover squat

The squat is one of the most basic yet effective exercises, because our legs and glutes take up half our body they burn amazing amounts of calories and really increase the heart rate! There are various forms, In this variation you are using your partner as  your weight(across your shoulders or piggy back style) if  your partner is to heavy-you can always use your own weight and add a jump at the end, this increases the intensity of the squat and REALLY increases the heart rate for fat/calorie burning! If you’ve never done a squat before a few tips are to stick the booty out, Sit back like your sitting in a chair and make sure that your knees are NEVER going over your toes. The cross over is another variation , by swining one leg directly behind the other you are really isolating the glutes, one side at a time!

30-60 Seconds: Wheel Barrel pushup/Lunge. Remember when you had wheel barrel races as a kid? That was FUN right??? Well guess what…you still can do them, except this time you have a purpose ripped ab’s, and lean shoulders!  In a pushup position have your partner grab your legs wheel barrel style, don’t be shy have your hips align with their ankles and step directly back into lunge position, as you lower into lunge your partner lowers for a pushup! After 30-60 seconds switch up. With this exercise in conjunction with the others, you two are gonna be  a fierce force in NO time!

30-60 Seconds: Partner Leg Throw

30-60 Seconds: Tiger Crawl

Flying Solo? No problem….use these modifications to get the most effective and fun workout. Equipment requirements-Your body- that’s it!

30-60 Seconds: Same as above , but lock your feet under a picnic table, couch, or have your kids hold them!

30-60 Seconds: Squat/ Crossover squat

The squat is one of the most basic yet effective exercises, because our legs and glutes take up half our body they burn amazing amounts of calories and really increase the heart rate! With body weight alone or add a hop in between to increase heart rate and burn body fat!

30-60 Seconds: Wheel Barrel pushup/Lunge. Remember when you had wheel barrel races as a kid? That was FUN right??? Well guess what…you still can do them, except this time you have a purpose ripped ab’s, and lean shoulders !  In a pushup position have your partner grab your legs wheel barrel style, don’t be shy have your hips align with their ankles and step directl back into lunge position, as you lower into lunge your partner lowers for a pushup! After 30-60 seconds switch up. With this exercise in conjunction with the others, you two are gonna be  a fierce force in NO time! No partner? Use a bench/couch/chair to elevate your legs.

30-60 Seconds: Partner Leg Throw

Use any stationary object  in lieu of ankles.

30-60 Seconds: Tiger Crawl, This exercise is just as fierce with or without a partner, Hence the name!

Kimberly's Survival Story- Episode 6!

Siwash Cabin Day 19:

Food Diary- 1 blueberry kim crepe for breakfast (flour and water, with reduced blueberries we picked)

We got a late start while leaving layover cabin- but our hike was only a 2.5 mile planned hike with a lot of thicket. As soon as we ate breakfast we packed and took off. Packs are heavier and Johns back was hurting him. 1.5 miles later through the 10ft alder brush we spotted a porcupine in a spruce tree we used the 410 and Trish took 3 shots before the poor thing fell out of the tree—Once it fell it was still alive and Jacob had to club her so she didnt suffer any further ( We dressed the porcupine right there so it would weigh less and the quills wouldnt stick us on the way back (Carolyn got stuck with one while cleaning and gutting previously and it definitely didnt look like fun! Those quills have barbs that resist coming out of the flesh ughhhhhh) We were losing light so we hauled ass to our destination which was a serious downhill/mountain trek- very steep! But we made it just before sundown. We had to put up tarps/get wood/water AND chop up a porcupine so we can start boiling it over night. As we did that I happened to find a bottle of rum! Whoo hooo- it’ll be nice to relax and enjoy that! We all had a rum and tea(labrador leaves) which we named the “Porcutotte” after the remninse of porcupine that was left in the cups from our last porcupine dinner. Beggars cant be choosers! ;0) I was pretty exhausted and felt a slight buzz from that rum, Trish too…BIG TIME! We giggled up a storm for a change and it felt so good to laugh so whole heartedly again, Great for our spirits. Bedtime was LATE that night and REALLLLLY cold. Just went out of the shelter to go to the bathroom- pitch black- couldnt see my hand in front of my face, and I heard something HUGE run through the river 15 ft from our cabin…. I couldnt pull my pants up fast enough before I practically dove head first back into our shelter! CREEEEEEEEPY!

I had a tough time sleeping- I slept on the wood tables between Carolyn and Jacob…They smell the best <wink>. Gooonight. Love You.

Oct 3rd, Saturday-

Food Diary:

Breakfast: 4 scoops of porridge (rice with porcupine broth)

Lunch: 1 cup porcupine stew w// rice

Dinner: 2 cups porcupine stew w/ rice

@ this point I feel like I could live off porcupine forever, it’s amazing!

Slept in, woke up with a sore throat so I wasnt feeling so hot. Jake told me to sleep in a bit and rest up while we made breakfast-crepes,  We did a family wood gathering/got water Trish and Jake went fishing, John carolyn and I stayed back did chores and pulled apart porcupine meat for din din. We had planned on drinking our rum that night after all tasks were done and we had stock piled enough wood for a while. Everyone in great spirits, I think we are all eagerly awaiting tonight :) Once everyone was back home around 5:30pm it was already dark and we ateour much anticipated porcupine stew- it was SO good! Yum! Taste just like moms pot roast! Then we had 3 rum and labrador teas. Which were relaxing but so much that I ended up falling asleep on Carolyns lap within about 10 minutes. As I layed to sleep I couldnt stop thinking about food! Ahhhhhh. I never crave much but I kept thinking about sweets- I think it was because my body is lacking glucose and NEEEDS IT-BAD!  I kept telling Carolyn how I wanted cinnamon rolls with cream cheese on them- I’ve never had that in my life and couldnt fathom eating that in any normal scenario. Oi Vey!

Oct 4th:

Woke up at 9ish- Billy came to greet us with a decisions to make- 2 people were going bear hunting with an overnight bivey in the woods. I really wanted to go but I had been getting sick and was afraid I would get worse if conditions worsened I didnt want to risk going home or getting others sick and ruining  the experience. We chose John and Jake Carolyn prepped some warm grits that had been left at our previous cabin and warm porcupine stew for the boys to take with them. I took some tarps off the shelter for they’re yukon packs/tents and stretched John out-including his back- I hope that helps him he’s been in a considerable amount of pain and I hate to see him suffer. Carolyn Trish and I saw them off and we cleaned and prepped the remaining porcupine, got water, stock piled more wood-Seriously- so much it was tough for the camera men to get into the cabin. Trish and I went fishing first. The fishing spot was beautiful and the sun was out! It was  picturesque to say the least. We stood over the creek off of some rocks looking down into a crystal clear 8-15ft creek- so gorgeous, I could see the salmon and this time of year they are clearly in bad shape. They are perishing and literally decaying. They are born here, live in the ocean and then swim back here after spawning. Such a crazy process! I’m still a bit confused on the evolution of it all but it’s pretty amazing. Trish and I fished about 4 hours with no luck. We walked back to camp and gathered wood/water/ate dinner and had coffee together. We then had “hygiene time” washed face and all the other necessaries…… it felt so good! We were all comparing our weight we’ve lost. Trish has lost SOOOO MUCH! Shes skinnie minny now. Carolyn has lil twiggy legs…supermodel.com!!!!! <wink wink> Time to turn in! P.S my arms look RIPPED! Wahoooooooooooo

Oct 5th:

Food Diary-

 1 cup coffee

-2-3oz meat and ¼ cup rice ( porcupine stew)

This morning we woke up well rested. The boys were still away, and I was happy that the girls and I kept the fire blazing all night- It requires constant attention but I was so warm and cozy all nite. We had coffee before bed so I had a little trouble sleeping but I had positive thoughts while falling into slumber. Carolyn and I woke up braided my hair. I was able to get some stretching in which felt so nice! Went to the bathroom and then filled all our water bottles from the stream, this by the way is the best water I’ve EVER had. Nothing compares. We’re starting to wonder where the guys are on they’re trek, if they shot a bear it seems likely that it would take two days or so to dress an animal of that size- especially with lack of experience & and Jacobs weak tummy for skinning animals ( Jacob is butch, he just LOVES animals) He’d just rather not have to kill or skin something if he didnt have to. I’m starting to reflect more now on life in general because I’m starting to let go of the comforts of civilization and embrace the feeling of not having those  things here. That is easily done-  it only requires thought pattern change. If you allow yourself to be happy and content with everything that surrounds you OR sad and defeated by your surroundings. I WANT to love and embrace the highs and man lows and see them for positive change. Love and friendship is so important and the relationships I have built with these 4 other individuals is what is making this journey fulfilling. We are all SO different. I love Carolyn she is feisty but sweet she ALWAYS has good intent and fights for what she believes in. It makes her feel good to help others feel good. I love trish because she is so blunt„ it can be crude, obnoxious, hilarious but genuine, I know she would ever change according to those surrounding er, shes just Trish ALWAYS. I love John because although we didnt get him at first- we’ve learned to love and admire his “always on the go” personaility- as manly as he is- he really likes to kick back at the end of the days and enjoy the people surrounding him. I’m glad he’s opened up and we’ve been able to see that side of him. And last but NEVER least theres Jacob, when we first met our personailities meshed instantly- we’re both pretty over the top and I can always depend on him for a good laugh or high kick session. Jacob is a great voice of reason for us out here and I always trust him to make the best decision for our group if need be. These four people have affected my life greatly and only they will ever know the physical and mental  trials , breakdowns and charactor this Alaskan Journey has brought. That alone will stick with me forever.

NEWS FLASH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This just in……………………

The boys are back, came home with no bear :( Carolyn and I went fishing. I could see the fish swimming and wanted to get one BAD. It felt like a carnival game at this point I used a treble hook and caught my first fish- it was 25+ pounds  and decaying by the second…. F **k it…WE’RE EATING IT!!!!!!!!

Dinner: a big fat decaying fish- it tasted like egg whites, and had that EXACT consistency/texture-classy! ;0)

Kimberly's Survival Story- Episode 5!

Dear Friends & Family,

As many of you know I went through an amazing, rough, cold, beautiful, and did I mention amazing? Journey last fall. I was allowed one personal item on my trek, in which I chose a journal to record my thoughts and experience along the way. Most of you come to me with questions everyweek alter watching an episode-so I thought I’d post my journal entries so you can see exactly what I was thinking as the journey unfolded. I wasn’t able to write everyday because there just wasnt enough time, warmth or daylight left! Some of the entries are more matter of Fact, some I was able to have a little time to display the emotion I was feeling throughout the journey, I think you’ll see  that become more evident as time goes on….eitherway, please enjoy! Everything writin is exactly how it was wrote the day It was put into my journal-enjoy the ride! Feel free to comment!

P.S-Note my/our Food Diary

Love & hugs,

“Out of the Wild” Kimberly Wise

“Keep Out Cabin”

Sooooooo we’re now in a  much better place! It’s Warm and has four solid walls, a roof, and bunk beds. We each have our own sleep spot. I’ll call this place “layover cabin” because we’re only here for 3 nights- and we’re really trying to recover from our lack of sleep and cold in plane crash  cabin. I actually dont have to sleep in six layers of clothing, I hate that- it feels so constraining and hinders circulation, all I want to do is stretch out and move my muscles however  filling in any dead space in my sleeping bag to keep warm is absolutely essential, One huge factor I’ve grown accustomed to but was too claustraphobic for before, is putting my entire head in the sleeping bag and using my breath to keep the bag warm.  Winter is definitely here and it’s the coldest its been thus far, it hurts to be outside any longer than 5 minutes. Our first day at layover cabin we slept until 8ish (sun comes up about 8) finally was warm & cozy in our sleeping bags- I made breakfast and then we all met to decide hunting plans. Carolyn and I to fish, trish and john to hunt, jake to stay in because he has been sick but still running himself ragged and needs to rest as much as possible. Carolyn and I paddle out to the middle of the lake and casted 3 trolling lines from the back of our boat- I wish it couldve been a nice enjoyable fishing day but  unfortunetely its so bitter cold its hard to focus on anything else beside that. We fished until our hands and feet went numb w/ no luck. :( It’s no fun fishing when your life and the life of four others depends on it. When we got back Jake had cleaned the entire place which felt really good. We sipped some tea(Labrador tea leaves we had hand picked along the way )- it warmed us up and let us relax for a few minutes. An hour later Trish and John came back with a Tarmagan-yayyyyy- Carolyn and I instantly began the stew and I made dumplings Carolyn is using the lentil beans and we’re making a dip(mooshing up the beans) we have some cayenne/pepper/and salt that we are using for flavor. We’re making Pita bread from floor and water and cooking them over the FIRE to dip in the beans, making something different like this seems to satisfy us more emotionally than physically, it’s not a lot of food but its something that is so easily accesible at home so it keeps satiety levels high. It’s almost 10pm, dinner is taking a while but we’ve been waiting for days for protein so we can wait even longer for this stew to cook correctly. Carolyn and I are going to scrub our faces for once , right now! Wooo hoo!

Food Diary- 1 crepe(flour water) with reduced blueberries, 4 Bites of ptarmagon stew w/ lentil bean dip

Woke up today still feeling full from ptarmagon stew, NICE! Jake made yummy crepes w/ blueberries reduced. Carolyn and I met with Billy Fitzgerald, our master alaskan hunter and we hiked up ridges and glassed the mountains with our binoculars. I noticed a black bear in the valley! He was about 500yds away! Our 45/70 only shoots efficiently at about a 100 yds- so we were up wind and descended toward the bear blindly. We lost sight of him , but kept track of the trees he was between. Once about 25 yards from his location Carolyn, Billy and I  waited in the alder bushes hoping he had laid to take a nap and we could pursue him after his slumber. After an hour we headed back up the ridge so we could glass over the brush/see if we could get another visual,  two hours later the cold was settling in my bones- no visual and no new animals across our path. We decided to head back and BAAAAAAAAAM! We ran across a Ptarmagon, I snack up on it and  with the 410 shot it out of the tree. As we looked for its body in the brush I noticed a spruce hen just going about its business perched up in the tree- we only had .22 bullets left so i switched my ammo and blazer the spruce hen. DINNER! Yay!!  Carolyn/Billy and I hiked home and we dressed/plucked the birds and made a stew- we need to thermos much of the food for our next hike. I have no clue where we will be next. I dont want to be cold anymore! Ahhh! Unfortunetely that is the story of our lives out here. I’m so happy I was able to get food for the family today I had such a proud feeling afterwards being able to provide for us.

Food Diary- 1 blueberry Kim crepe, no lunch, ptarmagon stew 5 bites  @10pm

To Be Continued…………….
